A major contributor to Black land loss throughout the Black Belt region is the scarcity of public interest law firms that provide the range of legal services needed to dismantle the various mechanisms that uproot African American farmers, landowners, and communities from the land. The mission of the Center is to provide critical legal support and advocacy to African American farmers, landowners, and communities in the Black Belt region. Our work is divided into three focus areas: Legal Services, Research and Policy, and Community Education and Engagement.
